Biography
Ambiguity was the word that started my LSS-journey. When I was an engineer in training, I learned that most projects failed due to lack of proper alignment of expectations between project members themselves and their end-users/customers. Since my engineering degree did not provide me with the essential knowledge, I decided to study communication and information sciences. It was here that I learned about cognitive biases, group behaviour and conceptual agreements. Essential knowledge when reducing ambiguity in collaborations. However, the study lacked practical depth. I discovered LSS at my first job and instantly fell in love with the philosophy. LSS contained every tool to reduce ambiguity! Since my training, I have worked my way up to Lean Manager at Hendriks Bouw en Ontwikkeling. This holding is active in the construction industry and has five subsidiaries (Project development, Construction, MEP, Maintenance & Facility). I was responsible for the deployment of the LSS-philosophy within and between the subsidiaries. I implemented weekly’s, process measures, standardized work processes and even guided multiple Hoshin Kanri’s. During this time, I enjoyed working in every layer of the organisation (from bottom to top). Furthermore, I had 10 Green Belts trained and, under my guidance, carried out DMAIC’s.
Nowadays, as a consultant at Lean Six Sigma Groep, I train groups of potential Green Belts and implement LSS in a diverse pallet of companies. All contributing to my primary goal: reduce ambiguity!
