Develop your communication skills
The need to have good written communication skills has never been more important and the growth of virtual channels for blogging, social media posts and the like have become standard ways to express views, stimulate debate and relay information. Indeed, it can be argued that this form of communication should now be considered a core competence for the average employee at any level in an organisation.
Sharing ideas is also powerful for ongoing learning, developing networks and establishing a reputation, so the new LCS facility will enable you to build or hone your writing skills, get feedback and expand your horizons.
Budding authors should also look out for the article of the month promotion in the future!
Topics & types
Naturally, an LCS website article should be related to lean thinking and continuous improvement, though this does mean that the potential topic coverage is pretty wide, as behavioural and leadership areas can be included.
The preferred type of articles is broad and can include, for example, lean implementation case studies (including both positive and negative experiences), teaching innovations and methods, research results, or explanations of specific tools or approaches. We also want authors to express a point of view or challenge the status quo, as sparking debate and discussion is considered a positive output!
Submission method
Visit the article submission page and either copy and paste your words into the form or alternatively submit a PDF or Word document. Publication is not guaranteed! The LCS will scrutinise submissions to ensure they are relevant and do not transgress netiquette guidelines and contributors will receive feedback if a submission is not accepted.
Note that if you are already a member of the LCS website community, you should be logged in before you go to the submission page.
Guidelines
There are detailed guidelines on the preferred type of articles and tips on the recommended length, style and format used.
